December's beautiful full moon

ok so im late, we had a bout of the cold season visit so im getting this off now not too late though to you all.

Pagan yoga is a practice of aligning ourselves with the natural harmony and cycles influenced by nature and through planetary effects. this is the time we are in that i call gestational, it is like we are in the womb right now, just like nature has settled down into the mother earth so have we waiting to be born with new light and understanding when the winter solstice comes around.
This Decembers full moon practice should be a contiuum of focus from the previous work done on the shadow self,(see November blog) and what lies beneath, as we continue to put our deep selves into perspectives, it is now time to add the energy of love and grace to those things that dwell within underneath the surface of our light. Why Grace? because the planetary influence of Venus, the effects of grace and beauty and of course love will be exhalted in Taurus which is its home and with the light of the full moon you can embrace the love and understanding it takes to nurture your energy.
also a reminder to look forward toward solstice when our new light will shine this practice is preparation for that time, so ask yourself what dims your light? how do you hide from it? or how do you hide it from others seeing it? how you answer these questions will give you a hint of how to approach your practice until the new moon comes up in the following weeks.
i look forward to your comments on your practice and any questions you have.

planetary associations with the days of the week

certain planetary influences are associated with each day of the week, doing a ritual or practice will have certain vibrations accordingly.
.....................
Monday - moon day
allow your practice to be guided by intuition, and more yin qualities by inviting the moon in you should take it more slowly and easy holding your posture for longer periods of time and do try to focus and not get antsy

Tuesday - mars rules this day, take a warrior type of approach to your day, be a warrior of life, love and the right to happiness, defend your peace of mind! and take rightful action

Wednesday - mercury vibrations are in effect today, time to really take your practice and make sure it is in alignment with your spirit and intention, then take it physical, the body in alignment, not a real free flow but steady sturdy and connected

Thursday - Jupiter rules today, how fitting Jupiter being so happy its almost the weekend. this is a time to spread joy into your life, and practice, if it isn't joyful why? and where can you free up the joy and let it emanate out of you

Friday -Venus rules today, let the love flow, share your grace and feel it too!

Saturday - Saturn's day is here, this is where you really want to focus on a structured practice and ritual, strong and steady poses held with authority.

Sunday -sun rules
be bright and shiny emanate the rays of the sun from within like anexplosion, and in the winter use that suns energy to implode within you to keep you vibrant through the dark time.

release and let go durning the waning moon of early november

right now we are a little more than at the halfway point to the new moon, this means we are in the waning moon phase which is about elimination and letting go.
and with Venus transiting Libra we should look toward holding our balance with grace and beauty in relationships and creativity. right now is a good time to ask yourself what are my obstacles in regards to holding balanced loveships, relationships and our own inner beauty?
the seasonal practice right now is all about going within, and really seeking out the shadow side of yourself, illuminating light into the direction of the darkness we all have within and spending time healing those things inside of ourselves we don't want to show but yet that dark side seems to slip out and seep into our everyday lives once in a while and can wreak havoc when were not feeling entirely balanced, so what we should begin to do now is develop an inward focus and find something we would like to clear up, pick just one thing it could be an attitude, a habit, a thought form, something that we carry around that does not serve our highest good and work at letting go. Sometimes it can take a while if your shadow self has a stubbornness and wont let go, give yourself patience and give it dedication. By dedication I mean creating a daily ritual of concentration and effort. an easy effort would be taking surya namaskar or the sun salutation and dedicating that to your cause, by using energy movement in your body, you are the action and a reaction will occur.

a suggestion of pagan yoga ceremony for this focus:
NOTE: you can find how each days relationship with a planet affects our practice in another blog
meditate on your intention to find the thing that does not serve your highest good
write this on a piece of paper and set it under a candle there are a few different colors of candles that will work good but for all generic purposed we will choose white for purification since that is where were at
step on to your mat, using the sun salutation continue to focus on releasing and letting go, remember your breath is 96% of your poses so really hold your focus.
as you raise your arms up for the first move of the salutation, reach up to the sky for energy and as you lower into forward bend release out into the earth let the earth take your junk away. use your lunges and imagine you are reaching over the hurdles and any obstacles that are in your way from releasing and truly letting go, as you lower into plank feel the balance and steadiness of making a firm commitment to your intention, then in cobra add in the heart energy and see your heart chakra directly aimed at your issue, so aim like an arrow at your target, and your target is letting go of an old habit, thought form, limitation or addiction or anything else you see as part of your dark nature and direct the heart energy right into it respecting and loving yourself and the shadow-self too.
remember this can be done no matter what physical limitations you have, in a worst case scenario someone could be in a hospital bed laying with all sorts of limitations, but if you visualize it- going through the motions in your mind while breathing you will make a change!
I recommend at least 9 or 11 suns, right, left, right alternating legs that start off from the lunge.
this will take around 12 or so minutes of the physical practice, most everyone can find that time during your everyday somewhere, you can make it more extensive once during the week for a full blown ceremony pagan yoga ritual, but 12- 15 minuted per day will add up to a full 90 minutes at the end of the week which is better than just one chunk of time once a week.
let me know how this goes for you and there is another waning moon at the end of this month to continue your work started here if you need more time.
until then i will see you at the new moon practice, which will bring a delightful focus of Scorpio really illuminating all that lies underneath in our dark and murky self that affect our sense of home, family and security, basic first chakra stuff, it will be a challenging one where you might feel stuck in your stuff, but like anything, don't give up and keep going, forewarned is forearmed and its what you make of it and your intention that makes your life a true creation and master piece.

YOGA and the elements

Basically you know everything is created from matter, what makes matter form is the elements, our organs in our bodies correlate with the elements and seasons, based on Chinese medicine. meridians are Pathways in our bodies similar to a roadmap that creates passages for impulses of energy to get around to operate our body, its organs, senses and other physiological functions, Pagan yoga is a way we will use these correlations to unlock, unclog and free up these freeways or meridians for longevity, strenght and vitality. each season we will address yoga that compliments and balances these elements

Yoga and the astrological influences?

Yes, our yoga is influenced by the astological influences, this blog is designed as a general way to focus your practice depending on wether it is a full moon, a new moon, waxing or waning, and other planetary influences also. Yoga comes from many cultures not just from india, i have seen mayan figures in the Field musem in yoga poses. Im not by all means an astrologer by a lay person who wants to help you connect your practice to a deeper level. I will use western based astrology, since this is what most of us know, however if any readers know jyotish or aztec astrology I welcome your comments,

what is pagan yoga

Pagan yoga is also known as yoga ceremony Based on the up coming book Pagan Yoga these are the pages to connect you deeper with your practice, the focus for this cycle of our natural time and season. By aligning your practice with nature you are able to connect with true Hatha Yoga.
Yoga means to bring together, Sanskrit for yoke,
Ha means solar, active energy relates to the male force in life
Tha means lunar, nurturing energy, related to the feminine force in life.
We all have these within our body male and female as much as we have a left and a right.
Yoga is not a religion, it came from the tantrikas who established a form of connecting with the divine spirit without a formal religion because the religions were dominated by people who took the power away from people to connect directly with the divine spirit. The tantrikas said that you can connect with the divine spirit anytime within your self you do not need a religious intercessor for this, hence nearly 55,oo years ago Yoga was formed.

Yoga moves energy within and around the body, it affects our nervous system, our endocrine system, respiration and blood. It affects each chakra which is a vortices of energy within our body. It may seem like just expercise to some, but it is a very powerful system of wellbeing and health. Very much needed in this time and age.

Each time we approach our yoga and mat we are sending out an intention and by our action of doing yoga, we are creating a reaction, and something will happen. Performing your life’s actions in this way is sacred and thus all life becomes sacred including your interactions, relationships. CELEBRATE THIS SACREDNESS AND PERFORM A YOGA CEREMONY in harmony with the earth and sky.
